How to install OCTA ?


Download

Go to OCTA BBS, register your name and e-mail address (It is free). Then, you get your login password for OCTA BBS by an e-mail. Using this account, you can login to OCTA BBS and download latest version of OCTA (binaries, documents and sources) from [OCTA20XX] directory of [Download] directory of OCTA BBS.

If the archive is too large to download, you can contact CD-ROM delivery service.

Windows

  • OCTA packages for Windows are released by 7 archives : Gourmet (Common GUI and external softwares), PF_ENGINE (4 engine executable modules and analysis libraries of OCTA), PDF Documents (Manuals of Gourmet and 4 engines), COGNAC, SUSHI, Muffin, Pasta (Source and samples of 4 engines)
  • Download all archives and install by following the install guide :
    - Expand all archives.
    - Set two environment variables, PF_FILES and PF_ENGINE, to installed path of GOURMET and PF_ENGINE each other.
  • Run Gourmet by GOURMET_20XX\bin\gourmet.bat

    If you get an OCTA CD-ROM from CD-ROM delivery service, run auto installer by setup.exe. After installation, you can run Gourmet from the Windows start menu "Start Gourmet". (You don't need to set up environment variables by yourself.)


    Linux x86

  • For Linux x86, OCTA package installer can be downloaded as 9 divided archives, which is the same as the auto installer released by CD-ROM : Install scripts (Archives of installer shell scripts), Gourmet (Common GUI), PF_ENGINE (4 engine executable modules and analysis libraries of OCTA), External softwares (External softwares needed to run Gourmet), PDF Documents (Manuals of Gourmet and 4 engines), COGNAC, SUSHI, Muffin, Pasta (Source and samples of 4 engines)
  • Download all archives and install by following the install guide :
    - Expand all archives.
    - Run instal.sh and follow the installer messages.
  • After installation, you can run Gourmet by the command of $HOME/gourmet or /usr/bin/gourmet.

    If you get an OCTA CD-ROM from CD-ROM delivery service, run the install program "install.sh". After installation, you can run Gourmet by the command of $HOME/gourmet or /usr/bin/gourmet.


    Mac OS X

  • The latest version of OCTA (OCTA2006) for MacOS X supports two versions of MacOS X :
    - MacOS X 10.4 Tiger (Universal Binary type for both Intel and Power PC)
    - MacOS X 10.3 Panther (PPC Binary type for Power PC)



  • OCTA package installer for MacOS X (10.4 Tiger or 10.3 Panther) can be downloaded as 7 divided archives, which is the same as the auto installer released by CD-ROM : Common (Package Installer and External package installer (Gnuplot and AquaTerm)), Gourmet (Common GUI), PF_ENGINE (4 engine executable modules and analysis libraries of OCTA), PDF Documents (Manuals of Gourmet and 4 engines), COGNAC, SUSHI and Pasta, Muffin (Source and samples of 4 engines)
  • Download all archives and install by following the install guide INSTALL.txt :
    - Expand all archives.
    - Run
    >> OCTA20XX_MacOSX104_Tiger.mpkg ( or OCTA20XX_MacOSX103_Panther.mpkg )
    and follow the installer messages.
  • After installation, you can run Gourmet by the command of
    >> /Applications/OCTA20XX/GOURMET_20XX/bin/gourmet.sh
    See "Startup_after_installation.txt" in detail.

    If you get an OCTA CD-ROM from CD-ROM delivery service , run the installer "OCTA20XX_MacOSX104_Tiger.mpkg ( or OCTA20XX_MacOSX103_Panther.mpkg )".
    After installation, you can run Gourmet by the command of
    >> /Applications/OCTA20XX/GOURMET_20XX/bin/gourmet.sh
